Many computer software developers have long understood the convenience of the timer function and provide them with some programs. However, with the help of special utilities, it is possible not only to set a timer on the computer, but also to plan much more complex actions than a simple shutdown.

Step 1
There are a lot of timer programs or alarm clocks, as they are often called: ByAlarm, LullSoft EasySleep, AutoShutdown Pro, Good Morning! One of these timers is the multifunctional utility PowerOff. In addition to its wide functionality, the program has two more significant advantages: it is free and easy to use. With its help, you can set a timer on your computer, which is triggered by almost any changes that have occurred in the system. You only need to specify a certain critical limit for the timer. The program does not require installation: just download it in the archive, unpack it and run it.
Step 2
To set a timer that will be triggered at a certain time, in the upper part of the program window, check the box next to the field "Response time". Enter the time in HH: MM format, you can also specify seconds if you need extra precision. Below, select what action the computer should take when it occurs: shutdown, restart, hibernation, or something else.
Step 3
A very convenient feature of the program is to set the timer to fire depending on the music playback. To do this, you just need to specify the number of tracks that will be played before the timer goes off, and select the appropriate behavior of the computer.
