The Windows 8 operating system requires activation, otherwise the main part of its functions will be unavailable to the user.

Step 1
Find the activation code on the box of the operating system disc. Enter it into the activation window and wait a couple of minutes.

Most computers and laptops are now sold with an activated operating system. You can verify this by pressing the Window and Pause keys at the same time. The "System" window will open. You can see the activation status at the bottom of the window.

Find or buy an activation key for Windows 8. You can purchase a key from Microsoft by clicking on the appropriate button. This operation is done online, so your computer must be connected to the Internet. If Windows 8 was installed on your computer before the purchase, the activation code should be found on the computer case or in the accompanying documentation.
Step 4
Click the Enter new key button in the System section. The Windows 8 activation key is a 25-character string of numbers and letters of the Latin alphabet, divided into five groups of five characters each). Open a command prompt. Step 5
