Even after uninstalling McAfee antivirus, program entries may remain in the Windows system registry, which are recognized by other antivirus programs as a full-fledged application. The installation of other antivirus software is interrupted, and a warning appears about the need to remove the previously installed antivirus software. Therefore, complete uninstallation of McAfee is required.
Instructions
Step 1
Click the "Start" button to bring up the main menu of the system and go to the "Control Panel".
Step 2
Select the "Add or Remove Programs" section in the "Control Panel" window (for Windows XP) or open the service menu by left-clicking on the "Programs" field (for Windows Vista and Windows 7).
Step 3
Select the "Programs and Features" section in the "Programs" window that opens (for Windows Vista and Windows 7).
Step 4
Select McAfee antivirus in the list of programs and click the Uninstall / Change button in the Add or Remove Programs window (for Windows XP) or open the context menu by double-clicking on the McAfee Antivirus field and select the Uninstall command (for Windows Vista and Windows 7).

Confirm the execution of the command by clicking the "Yes" button.
Step 6
If you experience uninstallation problems or error messages, use the dedicated McAfee Cleanup utility to manually uninstall your antivirus.
Step 7
Download and save the MCPR.exe antivirus removal tool on your computer from the developer's official website.
Step 8
Open the MCPR.exe file by double-clicking on the file icon (for Windows XP) or invoke the context menu by right-clicking on the file field and select "Run as administrator" (for Windows Vista and Windows 7).
Step 9
Wait until the uninstallation utility MCPR.exe finishes, and a dialog box appears with the message Reboot required to remove all files. Would you like to reboot now? (To delete all files, the computer must be restarted. Do you want to restart the computer now?).
Step 10
Confirm the restart command by clicking Yes in the McAfee Clenup application dialog box and restart the computer.
Step 11
Make sure that on the second operating system of your computer (if any) the folder containing the McAfee antivirus is also removed.
