To transfer files over the network, a shared network folder is created on the computer, which is freely accessible for computers on the local network. If you are trying to copy information to such a folder, and the operating system displays an error, then you do not have permission to write to the shared network resource. Such rights can be set in the same system settings where the folder is shared.
Necessary
- - computer;
- - administrator rights.
Instructions
Step 1
Find a folder that you can access. It will be most convenient to do this through "My Computer" or through "Network Neighborhood". The icons for these shortcuts can be found on the desktop or in the Start menu. As a rule, all of these folders are standard, so there will be no problems with the search.
Step 2
Click on the folder with the right mouse button and select "Access" or "Properties" from the drop-down menu. Go to the "Security" tab if you have chosen the latter option. Select the user "NETWORK" from the list entitled "Groups and Users". Look at the list of permissions that appears for the NETWORK user at the bottom of the window. Click the "Change" button.
Step 3
In the window "Permissions for the NETWORK group" select the permission that sets the rights to write to the folder - "Change". Check the box in the Allow column. Also check the box next to Record. Click "OK" to close the window.
Step 4
Check the result by copying the files over the network to a shared network folder. You may need to restart your computer for the changes to take effect. If the operating system still gives an error, carefully check all the network settings, as well as the Windows Firewall settings and the network security settings of your antivirus. It is best to turn off the firewall, as it usually blocks all connections that are available to the computer over local area networks.
Step 5
In general, we can say that it is not so difficult to establish write permissions in the operating system. It is also worth noting that files copied to a shared network folder may contain various viruses that will transfer data to third-party services, so install antivirus software to completely get rid of such threats.
