Files are hidden in order to protect them from possible deletion or editing. In some cases, and to hide them from prying eyes. Disabling hidden files is performed using standard operating system tools.
Instructions
Step 1
Start the "Control Panel" of the Windows operating system. To do this, go to the "Start" menu, or use the shortcut on your desktop. In the "Control Panel" find the "Folder Options" icon and double-click on it. In the dialog box that opens, go to the tab called "View". This tab contains settings for displaying folders in the standard file manager of the operating system. In the list of settings, look for a line called "Hidden files and folders". To disable hidden display of all hidden files, uncheck the box next to "Show hidden files and folders". Click OK to apply the changes and close the dialog box.
Step 2
You can also disable hiding files by changing the attributes of each specific file. To do this, select the hidden file that you want to make open, click on its icon with the right mouse button and select the "Properties" command in the context menu. In the window that opens, in the "Attributes" section, uncheck the box next to the word "Hidden" and click "Ok" to apply the changes. From now on, this file will no longer be hidden, for editing and viewing without restrictions. You can also change these attributes for entire folders. In this case, the files contained in them can be both hidden and open. Changing an attribute of a folder is accompanied by a question from the system about whether to change the attributes of the files it contains.
Step 3
To disable hidden files in file managers such as Total Commander, there are special buttons, clicking on which at once enables or disables viewing of hidden files and folders. With the help of third-party file managers, you can also change the attributes of some files individually, making them hidden or open.
