When setting up your own local network, you must correctly select the operating parameters of certain computers. This is necessary to create shared resources and quickly exchange information between PCs.
Instructions
Step 1
First, provide visibility to computers within the local network. To do this, open the "Network and Internet" submenu, which is located in the "Control Panel" menu. Go to the Network and Sharing Center and open Change advanced sharing settings. Select the Home or Work profile if you specified one of these types when configuring your local network.
Step 2
Find and activate the "Turn on network discovery" item by checking the box next to it. Now find the submenu "Access Shared Folders". Turn on sharing by activating the corresponding option. Click the "Save Changes" button. Reopen this menu and verify that the specified options have been applied.
Step 3
If network discovery is still disabled, open the Administration submenu located in the System and Security menu. Open the "Services" item. In the list that appears, find the Windows Firewall service. Click on it with the right mouse button and select "Stop". Try to turn on network discovery again. Perform the same operations when setting up other computers.
Step 4
Now, secure your network shares. Create a new account on your computer and name it Local User (almost anything you want). Set a password for the created account. Open the Advanced Sharing Options menu again and activate the Enable Password Protected Sharing option. Save your changes.
Step 5
Right-click on the folder you want to open for network users and select "Sharing". From the pop-up menu, select the Specific Users option. In the window that appears, enter the name "Local user" and click the "Add" button. Configure other computers in the same way.
