Clogged coolers are one of the most common causes of overheating of certain equipment in a personal computer. Timely fan care helps to significantly extend the lifespan of your PC and laptop.
Necessary
- - crosshead screwdriver;
- - Silicone Grease;
- - machine oil;
- - cotton pads.
Instructions
Step 1
Turn off your computer and remove a few screws holding down the left side of the case. Remove this wall and turn on the computer. See which coolers are not spinning fast enough. Sometimes the dustiness of the fan can also be determined by the unpleasant sound emitted by this device.
Step 2
Turn off your computer and disconnect the cable from the power supply. Now, using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the screws holding the fan to the cooling heatsink. Unplug the cooler power cable. It is usually connected to the system board or whatever device the fan is attached to.
Step 3
Remove the cooler from the case of the system unit. Now carefully peel off the sticker located in the center of the fan blades. There are two main types of coolers. In the first case, you will see a hole in which the axis of rotation of the blades is located.
Step 4
Put a small amount of machine oil (silicone grease) into this hole. Move the vanes to allow the grease to be evenly distributed on the axle.
Step 5
If you are dealing with collapsible fans, then remove the plastic cover that covers the same hole on the blades. Using tweezers or a thin metal object, remove the rubber ring and plastic spacer from the pivot.
Step 6
Remove the fan blades from the axle. Apply a small amount of grease to the resulting hole. Now lubricate the axle itself. Be sure to remove dust from it, if any. Assemble the cooler. Attach this device using the screws you removed earlier. Connect the power supply.
Step 7
Turn on the computer and check that the fan is working properly. Install a program that allows you to get information about the temperatures of important PC devices. If some equipment is still very hot - replace the required coolers.
