The ICQ service is used for instant messaging and is one of the most popular in the world today. In order to configure it on your computer, you need to perform several simple operations.

Instructions
Step 1
Install ICQ messenger on your computer. At the moment, there are both the original ICQ, provided in Russia for free by Rambler, and alternative messengers made by other companies. The choice of one of them is a matter of taste for everyone.
Step 2
Start the messenger.

If your Internet connection passes through a proxy server, specify the proxy server parameters in the icq messenger connection settings - the connection port and its type (HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS5, SOCKS4).
Step 4
Register for an AOL Unified System account that provides this type of instant messaging service. To do this, fill out the registration form on the AOL website www.icq.com or use the form built into the messenger of your choice
Step 5
Enter your credentials to connect the ICQ messenger. Credentials are a set of 3-9-digit numeric identifier and password. An identifier given to you when you register with the AOL service.
Step 6
Find in the settings of your messenger the section concerning your personal information, fill it out. This step is optional, it just helps to identify you when other ICQ members are looking for you.
