Necessary

  • - WinRAR program;
  • - file for archiving.

Instructions

Step 1

To split a file into several archive volumes, load the file into the archiver. This can be done by opening an explorer window and dragging the file with the mouse into the WinRAR window. You can click on the "Add" button located under the main menu. A window will open in which you should click on the "Browse" button, select the file to archive and click on the "Open" button.

Step 2

You can use the "Add files to archive" command from the "Commands" menu or the Alt + A hotkeys. In addition, you can specify the file to be archived using the address bar at the top of the WinRAR window. Left-click on the arrow to the right of the line, select the disk and the folder in which the required file is located from the list of disks that opens, and click on it. The contents of the folder will appear in the program window, and you will be able to select a file for archiving.

Step 3

Configure backup options. To do this, click on the "Add" button or use the "Add files to archive" command. In the options window that opens, select from the "Divide into volumes in size (in bytes)" drop-down list the size of the volumes into which the file will be split. Among the presets is the volume size for writing to floppy, CD and DVD. However, you can enter your own value for the size of one volume of the created archive. If you need to send separate parts of this archive by e-mail, when specifying the size of the volume, be guided by the minimum attachment size allowed by the postal service.

Step 4

If necessary, you can set a password for the created archive. To do this, click on the "Advanced" tab and click on the "Set password" button. Create and enter a password twice. Click on the OK button.

Step 5

You can enter a comment for the created archive. To do this, click on the "Comment" tab and enter the text in the field. You can load a comment from a text file using the "Browse" button and select the desired file.

Step 6

To start creating an archive, click the OK button at the bottom of the archive parameters window. After finishing processing, your file will be split into several parts and ready to be sent.
