The mdx extension can be confusing even for an experienced user. Indeed, the mdx file is not a common format for presenting office documents, pictures, audio or video files that are most often encountered by a user when working with office or multimedia applications, surfing the Internet, or exchanging information with other users. However, if you nevertheless find such a file on a computer or on a local network, there is a natural desire to familiarize yourself with its contents.
Instructions
How do you open mdx? It depends on what kind of file we have in front of us, since this extension has two types of files of completely different purposes, related to different applications.
The mdx extension contains disk image files created by the latest generations of the popular Daemon Tools utility. If in earlier versions the image consisted of two files using the latest version of Daemon Tools, which can be downloaded from the program's website: www.daemon-tools.cc
DBASE index files have the same extension. If there are DBF files in the same folder, then this is an index file. It contains only technical information that accelerates the work with DBF data, and is used by Microsoft SQL Server or applications that work with data on their own.
In the second case, you should be especially careful, as damage or deletion of the index file can lead to malfunctions of the software that uses the database. Unless absolutely necessary, it is better not to look at the folder where the dbf and mdx files are located.
