Screenshot (from English screen - screen, shot - snapshot) - an image obtained by a computer as a result of pressing certain keys, displaying what the user sees on the monitor at a given time.

Step 1
Screenshots allow you to visually show the work of any program, serve as illustrations for an article, a book for the author. Sometimes software manufacturers ask to send a screenshot.
Step 2
There are many programs for taking and saving a screenshot, but the easiest and fastest way to do this is with the built-in Windows tools. To do this, you just need to press the Print Screen key, on the keyboard its name is abbreviated - PrtSc SycRq. It is usually located in the topmost row, next to the F12 key.

After pressing the PrtSc SycRq key, the screenshot is saved to the clipboard. To save a snapshot from it, you need to open a graphics editor. It is more convenient to use the built-in Windows program - MS Paint. Click Start - All Programs - Accessories - MS Paint. Program address on drive C: WINDOWSsystem32mspaint.exe.
Step 4
Then select the "Edit" - "Paste" menu. Or press the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + V. An image of your screen will appear in the program window, which now needs to be saved in some format.
Step 5
Select the "File" - "Save As" menu. The "Save As" dialog box appears. By default, Paint prompts you to save the file to the My Pictures folder in My Documents. You can choose any convenient folder for saving. Decide on the format in which you will save the image.
Step 6
If you don't care what size the snapshot will be, save it in.bmp / .dib 24-bit image format. In this case, the picture quality will be the best, but also the "weight" will be the greatest. With a screen resolution of 1024x768, one picture will weigh about 2.25 MB.
Step 7
If you need the picture to be as small as possible, save it in.
Step 8
You can also paste the screenshot into MS Word by pressing the Ctrl + V key combination or right-click and select the "Paste" menu.
