One of the ways to reduce the temperature in the system unit is to install a cooler. This promotes air circulation inside the case, respectively, the temperature of the PC components decreases. There is a place for installing a cooler in any, even the most simple computer case.

Necessary

  • - cooler of the system unit;
  • - screwdriver;
  • - 4 mounting screws.

Instructions

Step 1

First of all, you need to measure the diameter of the compartment for installing the cooler. You will not be able to install a cooler that does not fit. This can be done on the outer rear side of the system unit. Just measure the distance between the mounting screw holes. On the cooler you want to mount, the distance between the corresponding holes should be the same. Basically, 120 mm fans are used to cool the case.

Step 2

Disconnect the system unit from the power supply. Disconnect all peripheral devices. Then remove the housing cover. Insert the cooler into the compartment. As already noted, it is located on the back of the system unit. Some expensive cases may have multiple system cooler mounts.

Step 3

Carefully supporting the cooler inside the system unit, fasten it to the mounting screw on the outside of the case. Then the fan can be released. Tighten the rest of the fixing screws.

Step 4

It remains only to connect the power to the fan. You need to find a 3-pin connector on the motherboard. If you have a diagram of the motherboard, then first you can see the location of the connector to the motherboard on it. It is usually located in the upper left corner of the motherboard. Insert the power cable from the cooler into this connector. The fan is now fully operational.

Step 5

Connect power to the system unit. It is not necessary to connect other devices yet. Turn on the system unit, see if the cooler is working. If it works, you can turn off the computer and close the lid of the system unit; if not, there can be only two reasons. This is either a malfunction of the cooler, or you have not fully inserted the power cable into the 3-pin connector. Check the power connection again.
