Many programs require a key file for their work. The key file often determines the capabilities of the program, so the user may need to replace the outdated file with a new one. To do this, in some cases you need to know the location of the key file.
Instructions
Step 1
When working with the WebMoney service, many users use the Keeper Classic program. One of the options for working with it assumes the presence of a key file on the computer. If you have forgotten in which folder you saved it, you have the opportunity to find the key file by its name or extension. The file name corresponds to the 12-digit WMID number of your account in the WebMoney system and has the *.kwm extension.
Step 2
Open "Start" - "Search". Enter your WMID or key file extension *.kwm in the search field. Click the Find button. All found files will be displayed in the search field. Right-click on the key file found and select "Open folder containing the object" from the context menu.
Step 3
When working with Keeper Classic, do not store the key in clear text on your computer. It is best to keep it on a USB flash drive connected while working with WebMoney. Pack the backup copy of the key into an archive and put a password on it, this copy can be stored on your computer. Remember that it is much safer to choose the remote storage of the E-NUM system as the place for storing the keys. In this case, authorization is carried out via SMS, which significantly increases the security of working with WebMoney.
Step 4
Key files are also needed for most anti-virus programs to work. If you work with Dr. Web, its key file is called drweb32.key and is located in Program Files, in the folder of the anti-virus program. Kaspersky Anti-Virus does not store the key file on the computer, it only makes a corresponding entry in the registry.
Step 5
What if you don't have the required key file? When working with Kaspersky Anti-Virus, you can use free monthly trial keys, they can be obtained from the Kaspersky Lab website. For Dr. Web, there are log key files that are officially issued to the readers of computer logs. Such a key is fully functional; its validity period is limited to one or two months.
