To protect access to the local network via wireless connections, a security key is used - a set of numbers and letters, which, in fact, is a regular password. Practically the same in purpose and format, the code word is used to connect network computers to the "home group". These two keys are most often dealt with when working on home or office LANs.
Instructions
Step 1
To gain access to all the settings of the wireless connection, including the security key, you need to go to the control panel of the device that ensures the operation of the access point. This panel and the entrance to it are organized differently by different manufacturers of network devices. For example, if you are using a D-Link router, launch any browser, type https://192.168.0.1 in the address bar and press Enter. This must be done on the computer that already has access to the local network. In the page that will be loaded, enter the login and password for entering the control panel, as well as the code from the picture - "captcha". Click the Log In button and, if you are not mistaken about anything, you will get access to the router settings.
Step 2
Click on the Wireless Setup link in the left column of the panel, and on the next loaded page, click on the Manual Wireless Connection Setup button. The router will show you the current wireless settings. Scroll down to the bottom and in the very last field - Network Key - you will find the security key for this wireless network.
Step 3
It's even easier to see the homegroup access key. The only prerequisite is that the computer must either be the owner of this group or be connected to it. The easiest way to see this key is through the standard Windows file manager - "Explorer". Launch it using the Win + E keyset or through the "Computer" object - it is placed both on the desktop and in the main menu of the system.
Step 4
Wait until "Explorer" scans all available network connections and in the left column will appear the inscription "Homegroup" with a list of its computers that are now online. Right-click on the label and select "View homegroup password". Explorer will launch one of the Control Panel components, in which the network access key you need will be printed in large black letters on a yellow background.
