Step 1
Usually WinRar is installed by default on every computer. If such a program is not available on your PC, it must be installed before you can start compressing the file. This program is distributed free of charge, thanks to which you can download it on the Internet by entering the corresponding request into the search engine. After the program is downloaded, you need to install it.
Step 2
Double-click the left mouse button on the program installer shortcut. The system will automatically unpack the archive to the desired folder. Upon completion of the installation, a window will open on the desktop where you need to set the program settings - check the boxes next to all the items in the window and click the "OK" button. Further restart of the computer is optional.
Step 3
After you install the archiver on your PC, you can move on to compressing the file. To do this, right-click on the required document and select "Add to archive" or "Add to WinRar" (depending on the version of the installed program). During archiving, specify the desired settings for the file. This method of compressing files is most effective on a large scale. On the same file, the difference in size with the original is insignificant.
