Reducing the "weight" of a photo is achieved by changing the file size by converting it to another format. Another method - changing the image resolution - can be used if the original file is saved in JPEG format, but the photo was taken in high resolution.
Instructions
Step 1
If you need to change a photo that has a lot of weight due to the fact that the file format is BMP or TIFF, you can get by with the graphic editor Paint, which can be found on any computer with Windows operating system in the Start menu. Just add the file to the program and save it immediately, choosing JPEG as the final format.
Step 2
Some cameras record digital photographs in RAW format, which is the most voluminous of all graphic containers. To reduce the weight of such a photo, you need Photoshop. The procedure is the same as with Paint - upload a picture and save it in JPEG format.
Step 3
If Photoshop is not at hand, you can download one of the small utilities designed to convert graphic files of all possible formats, including RAW, TIFF and BMP. This can be Picture Resize Genius, ImageConverter Plus, etc. These programs can be found on any software portal of the Russian Internet or on the official websites of the developers.
Step 4
The application interface is simple and straightforward - even novice users should not encounter difficulties. It is enough to add a photo (or even several), specify the format of the final file (for maximum size reduction, JPEG is recommended) and give the command to convert.
Step 5
To reduce the weight of a high-resolution image saved in the JPEG format, that is, with the maximum compression percentage, open the photo in the same basic editor, Paint. Click the Resize button or press the Ctrl and W keys at the same time. Specify the new image size in percent or pixel ratio, and then save the result with the Save As command (Ctrl and S).
