The task of reducing the size of Microsoft Excel files is one of the most frequently discussed in various forums. There are several practical solutions that do not require special training and the involvement of additional software.
Instructions
Step 1
Call the main menu of the Microsoft Windows operating system by clicking the "Start" button and go to the "All Programs" item to perform the procedures necessary to reduce the size of Excel files.
Step 2
Point to Microsoft Office and start Excel.
Step 3
Open the workbook to be edited and click the Tools menu in the top toolbar of the Microsoft Excel 2003 window, or go to the Review tab in Microsoft Excel 2007.

Select the "Access to the book" item and apply the checkbox to the "Do not store the change log" field.
Step 5
Save the selected change and specify the desired retention time (default is 30 days).

Make sure you are using a standard font, Arial Cyr for Excel 2003 or Corbel for Excel 2007, and remove excess conditional formatting. To do this, select the desired range and open the Edit menu in the top toolbar of Excel 2003, or go to the Excel 2007 Home tab.
