To simplify access to files, folders and disks located in other computers on the local network, they can be assigned names and letters and assigned the status of a "network drive". As a result, such network shares will not differ much from your local drives in Windows Explorer. However, if you change the configuration of the local network, these resources may become inaccessible from your computer, and links to them in Explorer will remain. Then unused network drives will need to be disabled.

Step 1
Open Windows Explorer - this is the easiest way to disconnect network drives. You can start it by double-clicking the My Computer icon on your desktop or by pressing the WIN + E keyboard shortcut.
Step 2
Right-click the network drive you no longer need and select "Disconnect network drive" from the context menu. The same command is duplicated in the "Tools" section of the file manager menu. Explorer will execute your command and the disk will disappear from the list.
Step 3
If necessary, the network drive can also be disconnected from the command line. To do this, you first need to launch the command line emulator interface. To do this, first open the main menu on the "Start" button and select the "Run" line. Alternatively, you can press CTRL + R. This will open the Launch Programs dialog.
Step 4
Type cmd and press Enter, or click the OK button, and the terminal of the command line emulator will be ready to enter DOS commands.
Step 5
Use the net use command to unmount the unneeded network drive. In the command, you must specify the letter assigned to the network resource and add the delete key. For example, to delete drive N, this command should look like this: net use N: / delete
Step 6
After typing the command, press the Enter key and the network drive will be disconnected. However, this does not mean that a folder or other network resource that has been assigned the status of a network drive is made inaccessible from your computer by this command. You can still use it, but now not as a disk, but as a regular folder to look for in Network Neighborhood. This applies to both of the described shutdown methods.
