The task of shutting down a remote computer over the network can be solved by the user using standard tools of the Windows operating system or by using additional software.

Instructions
Step 1
Use the built-in Windows OS tools to disconnect a remote computer over the network. To do this, call the main system menu by clicking the "Start" button and go to the "All Programs" item. Expand the "Accessories" link and run the command line utility.
Step 2
Type shutdown /? in the text box of the Windows command interpreter to view the possible options for the required command, and confirm the selected action by pressing the Enter function key. To shutdown a remote computer, the following parameters are required:
- s - to shutdown the system;
- f - to force shutdown of all applications without warning;
- m / - to identify the remote computer.
Step 3
shutdown / s / f / m / remote_computer_name
in the command line text box and confirm the selected action by pressing the softkey labeled Enter. This will lead to the desired result.
Step 4
Download and install on your computer a specialized application for disconnecting a remote computer over the LanSutDown network. The application is free and freely distributed on the Internet. Run the installed program and open the Action menu of the upper service panel of the application window. Select "Shutdown" and type the name of the remote computer or its IP address in the "Computer name" line. Authorize the execution of the selected action by specifying the name of the administrator account and password in the corresponding fields of the system request window that opens and clicking the "Confirm" button.
Step 5
Pay attention to the possibility of displaying the required message before shutting down the computer and additional settings for forced shutdown of all applications available in the "Advanced" section. It is also possible to define the time interval before shutdown. If an immediate shutdown is required, type 0 in the "Message Display Time" line.
