DVD-media is a product of the next stage of development of optical storage media after the development of CD-disks. Regardless, optical disc burning software has not become more difficult to use with the addition of DVD functionality. This also applies to the widely used application of this type today - Nero Burning ROM.

Instructions

Step 1

Load the disc into your DVD drive. You can start burning a disc in either of two ways, since Nero Burning ROM has two interface options - basic and simplified. In the basic version, the first step after launch is to select the DVD item in the drop-down menu. The simplified version is called Nero Express, and if you are used to using it, after starting the program, select in its left column the section corresponding to the type of disc you are creating: "Data", "Music", "Videos / Pictures". After that additional options will appear in the right field with a more detailed description of each of them. Clicking on any of the descriptions will bring up a form for the next step of creating a disc.

Step 2

The content of all subsequent forms will depend on the previous choice. For example, if you specified the creation of a data disc, then the next step will be to select files and folders that should be placed on it. Before you start creating DVD content, make sure that the program has correctly identified the capacity of the disc installed in the drive - it is displayed in the drop-down list above the "Back" button. If Nero Express is “wrong”, select the correct value.

Step 3

Open the file selection dialog by clicking on the "Add" button and use it to compose a list of objects (files and folders) to be written to disk. Evaluate the degree of fullness by the color indicator under the list of disk files. Keep in mind that in addition to the files themselves, two blocks of service information will be recorded on the DVD, so the actual capacity may be 150 megabytes less than the nominal - it is better to leave approximately such a space on the indicator blank.

Step 4

Click the Next button and make sure that on the following form - in the Current recorder field - Nero has correctly identified the device to burn the DVD to. To preserve the ability to edit the contents of the disc, put a tick in the "Allow adding files (multisession)" checkbox.

Step 5

Click the "Next" button and the program will start writing the selected files to the disc. During this entire process, there will be a window on the screen with information about its current state.
