A screenshot is a screenshot. A picture that shows everything that is currently displayed on the monitor. It is quite easy to "photograph" the laptop screen in this way.

Screenshots are often used to save information from a web page on your computer, as well as in cases of software failure: in order to contact technical support later, it is necessary to take a screenshot of the error that has occurred. To create a screenshot, you can use the capabilities of the Windows operating system.

In order to take a screenshot of the laptop screen, you need:

· Open on the screen those windows and applications that need to be saved, arrange them in the desired order.

· Press the Print Screen key on the keyboard. Depending on the laptop model, this key may be in different places, but always closer to the upper right corner of the keyboard. As a rule, the button itself has its abbreviated name: "PrtSc" or "PrtScrn".

Pressing the button copies the image to the so-called clipboard - a place for intermediate storage of any data. Now it needs to be moved from the buffer to the laptop hard drive. Any graphic editor, for example, "Adobe Photoshop" or "Picasa" will help with this, even the standard Windows application "Paint" will do. For this:

· Open a graphics program.

· Paste the image from the clipboard into the document. To do this, press the key combination "Ctrl + V" or open the menu and select the "Paste" item.

· Save the resulting image by pressing the key combination "Ctrl + S", or by selecting the item "Save" or "Save as" in the menu. In this case, at first the image can be edited: cut only a part or optimize the size to prepare it for sending over the Internet.

In addition, you can take a screenshot of only the active window of a program. To do this, together with the "PrtSc" key, you must simultaneously press "Alt", and then save it in a graphical editor, like a normal screenshot.

If you need to put a screenshot of the operation of any application in a Microsoft Word document, after pressing the "PrtSc" button, go to the document window and press "Ctrl + V" (or select the "Insert" menu item), and the screenshot will be placed in the document. There you can also correct the image by changing the brightness, contrast, crop excess or scale the size.

For convenient and quick creation of screenshots, special programs are also created, they can not only save the image, but also edit it, as well as take a screenshot from such programs that cannot be removed by conventional means, for example, from a video player.
