Disabling the microphone built into a laptop or webcam is often difficult, in particular when the driver is installed on them along with the software on the motherboard. The microphone can be turned off in any case, it all depends on the configuration of the computer.
It is necessary
- - access to the control panel;
- - external microphone.
Instructions
Step 1
Find out the configuration of your computer regarding the connection of the webcam and microphone devices that are built into the laptop. You can do this online by reading detailed reviews of the specifications for your device model.
Step 2
If the microphone and the camera have the same cable to connect to the motherboard, you will only have to disconnect it together with it. To do this, go to the device manager in the properties of the "My Computer" menu on the hardware tab or by using the Win + PauseBreak keyboard shortcut.
Step 3
Find your audio and video recording adapter in the hardware list that appears and disable it using the right-click menu. In this case, the microphone will also be muted. If the devices have different connection wires, find a separate audio recording device and disconnect it separately.
Step 4
Plug the external microphone into the appropriate jack on your laptop sound card. After that, check if the built-in device has turned off, as is usually the case by default in most cases. After that, go to the management of sounds and audio devices in the computer control panel and select the hardware settings for recording audio by default in the drop-down menu on the corresponding tab.
Step 5
Select an external microphone as the default device if it was not done automatically. Note if the internal microphone is muted, but only after applying the changed settings. If it still works, turn down its volume to the minimum.
Step 6
If your microphone is built into the removable webcam, simply disable it or adjust the settings in the utility installed with the device driver for control functions.
