System Restore is a program included with Windows from XP version and above that allows you to roll back system changes to a specific date on which a "restore checkpoint" was created. And although this program is quite useful in case of errors in the operation of the system, if the necessary program is accidentally deleted, sometimes you still need to disable it. For example, viruses can recover themselves from its restore points, despite the fact that the system has already been cured of them.

Instructions

Step 1

To disable the creation of restore points, click Start - Settings - Control Panel. Double-click on the "System" shortcut to open the system properties. You can also open the system properties by right-clicking on the "My Computer" tab and selecting "Properties" from the drop-down context menu.

Step 2

In the "System Properties" window that opens, open the "System Restore" tab. On this tab, you can check the "Disable System Restore" checkbox - in this case, this service will be completely disabled. If the system is turned off in order to save disk space, then it makes sense not to turn it off entirely, but to set a certain amount that the recovery point files will be allowed to occupy. Using the slider on the same tab, you can set the maximum allowed amount as a percentage of the total disk space.
