There are situations when there is no server in the local network, office or home, and it is necessary to install the printer so that printing can be carried out from any computer. To organize this opportunity, you can use several methods. Below we consider a situation when the printer is connected to one of the computers on the network running Windows XP and you need to set up sharing.
Instructions
Step 1
Open the "Control Panel", go to the link "Printers and Faxes". Open the properties of the installed printer and go to the "Access" tab. Select "Share" and give a name to the printer, for example Canon, save the settings. A hand should appear on the printer icon.
Step 2
On other computers on the network, use the "Printers and Faxes" panel to launch the "Add Printer Wizard". Click "Next".
Step 3
In the printer selection window, put a full stop next to "Browse printers", and the search will be performed automatically. If the printer is not found, enter the address to it manually in the format "\ Computer name Printer name", where Computer name is the IP address on the network. Install drivers for the printer.
