If you have an image of an object (object, person, animal, etc.), then it is not very difficult to draw a shadow for it in the graphics editor Adobe Photoshop. One of the variants of such an operation is described below. It is assumed that you already have an image of an object in PSD, GIF or.

Instructions

Step 1

Open the file with the image of the object whose shadow you want to draw.

Step 2

Since this is exactly an object, i.e. separated from the background object, then in the second step you can go directly to creating a shadow layer. Duplicate the object layer - press CTRL + J.

Step 3

Now select the outline of the object - press the CTRL key and, without releasing, click the icon on the layer of the future shadow.

Step 4

Fill the selected path with black - pressing alt="Image" + BackSpace will do this.

Step 5

Now you need to blur the outline of the future shadow. Open the "Filter" section in the menu, go to the "Blur" subsection and select "Gaussian Blur". In the "Radius" field, select the appropriate value - depending on the parameters of the object and the size of the entire image, it can be from 1, 5 to 15 pixels. You will be able to evaluate this parameter during the selection process, because the filter has a preview picture. When finished, click OK.

Step 6

Now move the shadow to its rightful place (behind the object), i.e. swap the subject layer and the shadow layer.

Step 7

Click on the shadow layer and press CTRL + T. This will turn on warp mode. A frame will appear around the image, on each side of which there will be three anchor points - two in the corners and one in the middle of the side. You need to move this middle anchor point of the upper side of the selected contour of the object with the mouse while holding down the CTRL key. The image of the shadow will change - give it the most natural shape for the shadow in the light conditions in your picture. If the light source is high - the shadow should be shorter than the object, if low - longer. Choose the angle of inclination of the shadow, depending on the direction to the light source. When finished deforming the shadow, press Enter.

Step 8

It remains to make the shadow not so radically black - in the layers window, move the slider in the "Opacity" drop-down list to about 60%. Adjust this value depending on the background and colors in your picture. On this, a simple method of creating a shadow can be considered implemented and proceed to further processing of the image.
