Most router models have a built-in reset mechanism. Its use allows you to quickly apply the factory settings of the device, canceling all incorrect configurations.
It is necessary
- - pencil;
- - ball pen.
Instructions
Step 1
First, try using the mechanical method to reset your router settings. Disconnect the equipment from AC power. Remove all cables from the LAN and WAN (DSL) connectors. Find a small hole on the router's case that says Reset.
Step 2
Take a pencil or ballpoint pen. Press the button located inside the indicated hole. Hold it in this position for 5-10 seconds. After completing the above operations, reconnect the router to AC power. Connect the device to a laptop or desktop computer using a patch cord.
Step 3
Open the web interface of the network equipment. Make sure the factory reset was successful. If this does not happen, try using the programmatic method. Find the Status or Tools menu and open it.
Step 4
Click the Settings Reset or Factory Settings button. Confirm the reset of the router. Wait for the device to reboot. If this does not happen, reboot the network equipment yourself.
Step 5
It is important to understand that a firmware replacement may be required to fully return the router to its original parameters. Visit the official website of the developers of the device you are using. For ASUS routers this site is www.asus.ru, for D-Link devices - ftp.dlink.ru.
Step 6
Download the firmware version that was originally installed in the device. If you are not sure about the choice, compare the release dates of the router and the official firmware release dates.
Step 7
Open the device settings menu and go to the Firmware menu. Click the Search or Browse button. Specify the firmware file. Wait for a while while the router firmware is updated. Reopen the equipment web interface. Check the current firmware version.
