There are several ways to configure your laptop to sleep. For example, "teach" him to fall asleep automatically if you do not perform any actions for a certain period of time. For laptops, this is very important, since their main advantage is mobility, and the main disadvantage is the limited amount of battery. "Books" are useful outside the home, so it is important to learn how to conserve food.
Instructions
Step 1
There are several levels of sleep mode, for example, in Windows there are three of them: "Hibernation", "Hybrid sleep" and "Hibernation". Like all settings in this operating system, they are regulated through the "Control Panel".
Step 2
Open "Control Panel" -> "System and Maintenance" -> "Power". From the menu, select Settings for Sleep Mode, Change Advanced Power Options.
Step 3
In the "Power supply" window that opens, you will see a list of parameters, select the "Sleep" drop-down list. Normal hibernation is the operation of the notebook at its lowest power consumption level, while the data about running programs is stored in RAM.
Step 4
Expand the Sleep After list and make the appropriate changes to its On Battery and Plugged In options. The laptop will go into standby mode after the number of minutes you specified if during this time you do not press any buttons and do not use the mouse. The computer interprets this situation as a signal to conserve energy.
Step 5
Unfortunately, hibernation will not prevent the laptop from losing data if the power goes out for any reason. In this case, it is better to use hybrid sleep mode, in which a copy of the data about running programs from RAM is saved to the hard disk. At the same time, the laptop wakes up more slowly, but you do not have to worry about the safety of the work done.
Step 6
Change the Hybrid Sleep settings in the Allow Hybrid Sleep drop-down list. Check On next to one or both On Battery and Plugged in.
Step 7
Hibernation is a complete shutdown of a laptop, which pre-saves everything that is in RAM at that moment to the hard drive. When you turn it on again, all information is retrieved and returned to RAM. The computer is restored to the state it was in when the machine went into hibernation. It takes even longer when waking up, but it saves a lot more energy.
Step 8
Change the hibernation options in the Hibernate after drop-down list. After filling in all the parameters, save them by clicking the "OK" button and close the "Control Panel". Now, when you slam the lid of your laptop during work or leave for a long time, you do not have to worry about losing data upon return.
