When working with a table, the user may need to make its borders clearer and more pronounced, or, conversely, hide them. In Microsoft Office Word, you can do this using several tools.
Instructions
Step 1
Run the application and create a table using the Table button on the Insert tab. To hide the outer borders of a table, select it and go to the "Home" tab. In the "Paragraph" section, click on the arrow-shaped button next to the thumbnail of the outlined square. Select "No Border" or "Inner Borders" from the drop-down menu. All light gray lines in the table will not be printed. This method can be used if there are no special requirements for the table framing.
Step 2
To access advanced table options, position the cursor in any cell. The context menu "Working with tables" will become available. Open the "Design" tab in it. In order to choose the style of design of the inner cells of the table and its borders, you can use the ready-made templates from the "Styles of tables" section. Please note: in the same section there is a button "Borders", with its help you can apply to the table the same effect that was described in the first step.
Step 3
If you need to change the border of the table to a non-standard, for example, choose a different color, thickness, style of borders, refer to the section "Draw Borders". Select the style you need using the color palette and drop-down lists in the corresponding fields. The mouse cursor will change its appearance. Run the "pencil" that appears along the existing borders of the table, and you will get a frame in the specified style.
Step 4
You can also call the "Borders and Fill" dialog box and set all the necessary parameters by moving through its tabs. Select the table and click in the selected area with the right mouse button. Select Borders and Fill from the drop-down menu. In the window that opens, you can make the same settings as described above: select the type of borders, style and thickness of the pen, the color of the border.
