Instructions

Step 1

Open Word on your computer. Enter the required text. If the file with the text for the frame is already typed, then just open it.

Step 2

You will find everything you need to create a frame for your text in the program itself. Pay attention to the version of the Word program installed on your computer. You can find out by clicking on the program icon on the desktop with the right mouse button. Select "Properties" from the pop-up menu. The program version is the number that follows the word Office.

Step 3

To frame text in Word prior to version 10 (prior to 2007), use the Format tab. In the menu that opens, select Borders and Fills. A new window will open in which you set the type of frame required for your document.

Step 4

Select the Page tab if you plan to use a border for the entire sheet. Set the line type, color, width you need. You can use the author's drawing as a frame by selecting it from your library. To do this, use the "Picture" window. If this frame is needed throughout the entire document, in the lower right corner, use the "Apply to …" switch.

Step 5

When you want to apply a frame only to put emphasis on a specific point in the text, use the "Border" tab. Specify the desired type of frame and lines, their color and width. The necessary switch "Apply to … paragraph" is already set here. After selecting all the required options, click OK. A frame will appear on the page and you can add text there.

Step 6

If you have version of Word 10 and higher, the Borders and Fill tab is located on the panel in the Home menu, in the Paragraph window. The icon can be already installed or hidden in the pop-up menu. Find on the panel a picture with borders ("Top border", "Bottom border", etc.), click on the down arrow. In the pop-up menu, you will see the desired function.
