Applications and folders on your computer open in windows. Several standard commands are provided for them: collapse, expand, close and move. If, while working on a computer, you often use the keyboard or a situation has arisen where the mouse does not work, you will need to know how to minimize the window using the keys. There are several ways to do this.

Step 1
To minimize an application or folder through the window control menu, press the keyboard shortcut alt="Image" and Space (space). A context menu will appear in the upper left corner. Moving along it using the arrows on your keyboard, select the "Minimize" command and press the Enter key. Minimizing windows without accessing the control menu is caused by the Alt, Space and C keyboard shortcuts. Using the described methods, you can minimize only the active window. To expand it later, move around the various elements of the screen using the Tab key and the arrows. When the item you are looking for is highlighted, press the Enter key.
Step 2
You can minimize all open windows at once using the Windows key (with a flag). While holding it, press one of the additional: Latin M or D. The action caused by these combinations is identical to the command "Minimize all windows", which is set by the button of the same name on the taskbar. To then restore all windows, press the Windows, Shift and M keys.
Step 3
Also, using the keyboard, you can move between windows. With this method, the active window is minimized, and the one selected by the user, on the contrary, is restored. Hold down the Alt key and press Tab. A panel with thumbnails and names of currently running programs will appear in the center of the screen. To select the window you want, press the Tab key until the application you are looking for is framed. Then release all keys. To stay in the current window, either select it or press Esc or Enter.

The Windows operating system also has a keyboard mode for controlling the mouse cursor. It is not very convenient, as the cursor moves extremely slowly across the screen. However, it will also help you execute the commands you want. The mode is activated by a combination of the left keys alt="Image" and Shift and Num Lock. Moving around the screen is carried out by keys 1-4 and 6-9, located on the numeric panel (on the right side of the keyboard), and pressing the mouse buttons simulates the keys [/], [*], [-] and [5].
