There are two ways to insert a badge with your website logo. One of them involves creating an icon file in the root directory, and the other is inserting the code using a special editor.
It is necessary

Instructions
Step 1
Open the root directory of your site. Create a file in it called favicon.ico. This file will support the display of your site icon in front of the address bar in the browser.
Step 2
If the icon of your site is not ready, create it using the Adobe Photoshop program, after downloading the appropriate plug-in, or another graphic editor that supports working with this type of file, for example, Microangelo, QTam Bitmap to Icon, Axialis IconWorkshop. Pre-check the work in different browsers, not only regarding the display of the site icon in the address bar, but also in the "Favorites" directory.
Step 3
In your page tag, add the following code:. In this case, a link to different variations of image sizes will be maintained, which is quite convenient, but less reliable.
Step 4
Here you can use both the usual Notepad editor and special programs designed for more convenient writing of code, for example, the free Notebook utility, which supports the display of line numbering and serves as a fairly convenient software for frequent editing.
Step 5
Create an icon for your site, having thought over all its details in advance. It is best to immediately decide on the design and size (here - depending on the method of adding it, since in the first case, only the use of a file with a resolution of 16x16 is available).
Step 6
You can also use special.atn files for Adobe Photoshop, which allow you to automatically create icons with the desired effects, you can find them on the Internet on thematic forums or on deviantart.com in the “Actions” section.
