Step 1
You can, of course, use a thermometer to take control measurements of the temperatures of the components of your computer. But this method is not practical, although it is considered the most accurate in assessing temperature. If you are interested in the temperature of the video adapter, then the latest models of such cards are equipped with a digital temperature sensor. This will greatly facilitate temperature measurement. But if for some reason you cannot remove the side cover of the system unit (the computer is under warranty, and the system unit is sealed), use special software.
Common programs are, as a rule, free access programs, i.e. free. Among them, there are 2 useful utilities:
- Speed Fan;
- Everest Ultimate Edition.
Step 2
Speed Fan allows you to measure the temperature of several parts of your computer, including the hard drive as well as the processor. As soon as you start the program, it will immediately start measuring the temperature. A distinctive feature of this program can be a multi-level temperature indicator. What is this indicator? This indicator shows not only the temperature of a given device, but also indicates whether it is the limit or is normal. When the temperature rises or falls, the sensor also notifies you about this, the graphic arrow is directed either down or up. The program can be permanently opened in minimized mode. A digital indicator of any of the selected devices can be displayed in the tray. On one of the tabs, you can take an online test of the health of your hard drive.
Step 3
Everest Ultimate Edition contains many tests, benchmarks, etc. As with Speed Fan, you can take a large number of measurements here. But there is much more information on the operation of your computer. It is possible to find out even the time intervals of your operating system in relation to downtime, as well as the lifespan of your operating system (how long the installed system is running).
