Instructions

Step 1

Most often, temperature sensors are installed on the following devices: video card, central processor and hard drives. The first two equipment usually have their own cooling system. Coolers are rarely attached to a hard drive. Install the Speccy program. Restart your computer and start it.

Step 2

Open the Hard Drives menu and find the temperature reading. If the temperature of this device does not rise above 50 degrees Celsius, then there is no cause for concern. If, under certain conditions, the temperature exceeds this figure, then provide the hard disk with additional cooling.

Step 3

First, try to simply remove the walls of the system unit. Quite often, this is sufficient. If your hard drive is still very hot, then install an additional cooler in the system unit. Better to mount the new fan in such a way that it blows around the hard drive.

Step 4

Choose a location where you will attach the additional fan. Locate the cooler power connectors on the motherboard. Be sure to check the number of cores in this connector. Get a fan that you can install inside the system unit. Naturally, pay attention to the power connection options for this device.

Step 5

Attach the new cooler to the case of the system unit. Usually, special screws are used for this, but in some situations you can use glue. Connect power to the new device. Naturally, all operations must be carried out with the computer turned off.

Step 6

Turn on the PC and check that the fan blades are spinning steadily. Run the Speccy utility and look at the hard drive temperature. If it is still above the norm, then this equipment will soon fail.
