Your operating system is malfunctioning, takes a long time to load, often freezes, which means it's time to remove it. It's not as difficult as it sounds. To delete it, it is enough to have a system disk (it may have come with your computer) and a little patience.

Necessary

  • - computer;
  • - Windows XP disk;
  • - USB stick.

Instructions

Step 1

You save your personal data. All documents, pictures and videos that you have located in the folder "My Documents", "My Pictures", etc., as well as just files on the desktop, should be copied to another section. The entire "C" drive will be erased after formatting the system. For example, copy all important data to the directory on the "D" drive. You can also transfer everything to a special USB drive.

Step 2

Reboot the computer by inserting the system disk into the drive. In order for the computer to boot this time not from the hard drive, but from the system disk, carefully read the inscriptions that appear on the black screen immediately after turning on the computer. The most common option is "Press F12 to get into BOOT-menu", but the labels can be different. Press the F12 button on your keyboard and select the optical drive from the list that appears. It can be easily found by the combination of the letters "CD" or "DVD".

Step 3

Wait for the system disk to load the necessary files. After that, he will display information on the screen, and will offer to choose which partition to install the system on. If your system disk is in Russian, then you are in luck. If in English, get a dictionary or call someone for help. Install everything to the system drive.

Step 4

Select section "C", and press "Enter" on the keyboard. The computer will inform you that this section already has an operating system, and will offer options for further work: "continue installation", "format the partition" or "go back". Choose "formatting" and once again agree with the system.

Step 5

Watch your operating system installation. The computer will most likely restart, display messages about the installed Windows version, ask for the time zone and other standard settings. You answer patiently. In about half an hour (depending on the speed of the computer) a fresh operating system will load.

Step 6

Now all you have to do is install drivers for devices that you should have on disks, as well as your favorite programs and games. Try to avoid the critical state of the computer in the future, as this affects the work in general.
