Every user expects from the operating system not only functionality and simplicity in performing everyday tasks, but also the ability to personalize it. The appearance and design of individual elements are important to many users. Windows provides quite a lot of functionality to customize the appearance of many elements, but there is always something to add to it.
A separate place in personalization is occupied by the desktop. It is in this design element of the operating system that the user shows all his creativity and ability to think creatively. A good part of the desktop space is occupied by all kinds of folders in which personal files are stored. Their difference from each other is small and comes down only to the name: music, pictures, documents, etc.
The monochromatic look of folders can be embellished, and they can be distinguished from each other not only by name, but also by color. Unfortunately, the system capabilities for customizing the appearance of elements do not provide such an opportunity, and you must use the capabilities of a third-party program. As an example, we will use the Folder Colorizer program. It can be downloaded for free on the developer's website. Most importantly, during installation, it does not change system files, which means it is harmless to the system. It weighs only a couple of megabytes, after installation it will ask you to register and will be ready to decorate your folders with bright colors.
After installation, the program will be integrated into the system. You will not see its shortcut on the desktop, but the executable file will appear in the folder submenu. All we need to do is right-click on any of the folders. In the menu that appears, there will be a new line with the name "paint". By choosing this item, it remains to use your taste preferences.
A feature of this program is its ability to preserve the color of a folder, even if you copy it to a USB flash drive and transfer it to another computer on which the program is not installed. The color of the folder will be exactly what you chose.
If you want to return the original color, you will need to return to the folder menu by right-clicking on it and select the "restore original colors" item in the color settings.
