Step 1
If you are using Windows XP, then you can get to the desired setting, for example, through the standard Windows file manager - Explorer. Open it by right-clicking the "My Computer" shortcut on the desktop and selecting "Explorer" from the pop-up context menu, or simply double-click this shortcut. If the icon "My Computer" is not on the desktop, then you can use the "hot keys" assigned to this operation "WIN" + "E".
Step 2
Click on Folder Options to expand the Tools section of the Explorer menu. This will launch a separate window with settings, in which you need to go to the "View" tab. In the list under the "Advanced options" label, find the item "Hide protected system files (recommended)" and uncheck the checkbox placed in this line. In the same list, find the inscription "Show hidden files and folders" and put a checkmark in front of it. Click the "OK" button and the changes made in the settings will be saved.
Step 3
If you are using Windows 7, then double-click the "My Computer" shortcut, click the "Organize" link and select "Folder Options" from the drop-down menu. As a result, a window with OS catalog settings will open. It can also be accessed through the "Control Panel". To do this, you need to launch it through the main menu on the "Start" button, and then click the "Appearance and personalization" link. On the page that opens, you need to find the "Folder options" section and click the "Show hidden files and folders" link.

Select the "View" tab in the window that opens, and then in the "Advanced options" list, find the line "Hidden files and folders". Check the box next to Show hidden files, folders and drives. You will then be able to view all files.
