Files and folders stored on a personal computer can be hidden in order to preserve personal information or to protect certain data. Hidden files and folders with standard settings are not displayed in content lists and are not found in the search. But with free access to the user or administrator account, you can enable the mode of displaying hidden files and folders.

Step 1
First, open the "My Computer" folder. To do this, find its shortcut on the Desktop and double-click on it with the left mouse button. You can also find the "My Computer" folder in the "Start" menu, where to launch it you need to click on the desired line once with the left mouse button.
Step 2
In the "My Computer" folder, left-click once on the "Service" line in the top menu. You can also select this menu by pressing the "Alt" key on the keyboard, and then the Russian letter "e".

In the list that opens in front of you, select the line "Folder options …" by clicking on it once with the left mouse button.

In the appeared window with folder properties, select the "View" tab by clicking on it once with the left mouse button.

The outlined Advanced Options: box displays a list of all configurable display options for all folders and files in the system. In it, find the line "Hidden files and folders" (to scroll down the list, click on the slider on the right and drag it down. You can also use the mouse wheel to view the list). Under the line "Hidden files and folders" there are two options for displaying them: "Do not show hidden files and folders" and "Show hidden files and folders".
Step 6
In order for hidden files and folders to be displayed in the lists of the contents of the computer, put a full stop in front of the line "Show hidden files and folders", and then click the "Apply" and "OK" buttons.
