XLS file - a document that contains spreadsheets with data entered into them. XLS is the standard format for Microsoft Office and is opened with Microsoft Excel. In addition to Excel, you can use other applications installed both on your computer and on your mobile device.
Opening a file on a computer
Excel application (read "Excel") opens XLS files on the computer. If Microsoft Office is already installed on your system, opening can be done by double-clicking the left mouse button. If for some reason XLS is not associated with the base program, right-click on the document and select the "Open with" option. In the list of programs installed on the computer, select Microsoft Excel and click "OK".
In the absence of the purchased Microsoft Office package, you can use its analogue Libre Office, which is used mainly in operating systems of the Linux family, but it also exists in a version for Windows.

Go to the official website of the software package and download the latest version presented on the resource. After the download is complete, install the program by double-clicking on the installer file and following the instructions that appear on the screen. After installation, the table files will be automatically associated with the installed package and can be launched by double-clicking the left mouse button.
XLS support in Android
Documents on mobile devices of the Android platform can be opened using special utilities. Go to the Play Market through the menu of the device to access the application store. Among the applications presented in the "Office" section, you can choose a large number of different editors. It is worth noting Quick Office and Kingston Office, which have support for documents with the.xls extension.
You can find alternative programs by entering XLS in the search bar at the top of the device screen.
Select the desired application, and then click "Install" and wait until the installation is completed and the corresponding message appears in the Android notification bar. A shortcut to the program will appear on the device desktop and in the main menu. Click on it to open an application that will automatically scan your device's memory and display a list of recovered files to open in its window. Select the required XLS from the proposed documents and wait for its contents to appear on the screen.
XLS on iOS
For iOS devices, downloading spreadsheet applications is done in the same way through the AppStore or iTunes. In the search for these utilities, enter XLS. Among the options offered, select the one that suits you best, and then install the program. After installation, connect your device to your computer using a USB cable and synchronize data through the "Applications" section of iTunes and the corresponding button.
Then transfer the required XLS file to the program window, having previously selected the newly installed utility from the list provided. After adding a document, you can disconnect your device from the computer and open the installed program, after launching it in the list of documents, you will see the table file you just copied. Click on it to view and edit.
