Microsoft Office Excel is a very convenient program for working with tables, performing statistical calculations. Therefore, it is not surprising that it is in great demand among accountants, economists and other specialists. But like any program, Microsoft Office Excel can malfunction. If at one point, when trying to open a previously created file, an error is displayed, do not despair - the damaged xls file can be restored.

Necessary

  • - a computer with Windows OS;
  • - Microsoft Office Excel application;
  • - Recovery Toolbox for Excel.

Instructions

Step 1

There are two ways to recover a document. The first way is to use standard tools. Start the Microsoft Office Excel application. Next, click on the Office button located in the upper left corner of the window. A menu will appear in which select the "Open" command. Now specify the path to the file that needs recovery and left-click on it.

Step 2

After that, in the current window, find the "All files" section. It is located at the bottom right of the window. In this section there is a line "Open" next to which there is an arrow. Click on this arrow with the left mouse button, then select "Open and Restore" from the menu.

Step 3

A dialog box will appear where you can select two recovery options: "Recover" and "Extract Data". When choosing the first option, the system will try to restore the original document; in the second case, the program will extract all data from the damaged document (tables, calculations). To begin with, it is recommended to select the first recovery option. If the quality of the recovered file seems unsatisfactory to you, you can recover the data from the document and create a new document on its basis. Fortunately, this will take much less time than creating a new document from scratch.

Step 4

Another recovery method is associated with the use of Recovery Toolbox for Excel. Download and install it on your computer. Run the program. Click on the image of the folder and specify the path to the document. Select it with the left mouse button and click "Open". Then select "Analysis" in the program menu. The program will test the document. After testing is complete, the “Start recovery” message will appear at the bottom of the window. Activate this function. After completing the operation, the document will be restored.
