System Restore is a handy service designed to return Microsoft Windows to a previously committed state. This allows you to restore accidentally or intentionally deleted applications, as well as to restore the system after a crash.
Instructions
Step 1
The standard system recovery procedure starts in its normal mode of operation. To do this, go to the "Start" menu, open "All Programs" - "Accessories" - "System Tools" and select "System Restore". Choose one of the proposed tasks: start recovering the system to one of the automatically created points, or create a restore point yourself to return the system to its current state in the event of a failure.
Step 2
Specify a restore point by clicking on one of the available dates on the system calendar. Each of the restore points is accompanied by a detailed description, which says what events it preceded: installing applications, removing files and programs, changing the registry, etc. Select the last of the dates when the system worked without failures, and click "Next".
Step 3
Wait until the end of the system restore procedure. First, you will see a progress bar, after which the work of all current applications will be terminated, and further processes will take place in the background without the possibility of stopping. After a few minutes, the computer will automatically restart. At the start of the system, a message about the success or failure of the restore operation will appear. If unsuccessful, try selecting a different restore point and retrying the operation.
Step 4
You can cancel the performed system restore if it led to the deterioration of its performance and various problems. To do this, in the service window, select the "Undo the last system restore" option, after which the operation will begin.
Step 5
Set additional parameters of the service by selecting the appropriate item in its main window, or right-click on the "My Computer" icon, select "Properties" and go to the "System Restore" tab. Specify how much system memory the service can use to create and store restore points, or disable it altogether.
