Most modern computer users prefer to use Windows operating systems, they are considered quite easy to install and convenient to use. However, when reinstalling Windows, the main question arises: "Which of the systems is better to choose: Windows 7 or Windows 8?" Both systems have similar functions, but there are some differences that must also be considered when choosing.
Necessary
- - installation disk with Windows 7 operating system;
- - installation disk with Windows 8;
- - removable media;
- - computer.
Instructions
Step 1
The choice of an operating system directly depends on the needs of the user, on the tasks performed and on the parameters of the computer. Before installation, you need to know if the computer settings are suitable for the operating system. In order to choose the right one, you need to consider the features of each system separately and compare them.
Step 2
Windows 7 has better functionality than other operating systems, as it is compatible with many games and programs. The main advantage of Windows 7 is that the interface of this system is similar to that familiar to a Windows XP user. Therefore, after installation, you do not have to adapt to the new interface and the location of the settings. This is convenient for those who do not like drastic changes and unexpected updates. This is especially true of the "Start" menu, which is modified in Windows 8.
Step 3
One of the main features of Windows 8 is the updated interface - "Metro". It can be noticed already when starting the computer, when various application shortcuts appear instead of the usual desktop. It is convenient and practical mainly for tablet users. Thus, the developers of Windows 8 have replaced the Start menu. The advantage of Windows 8 is that it works well with storing and synchronizing files using the Microsoft SkyDrive program, the so-called "cloud", which can store files of any size on Microsoft servers, thus, information from one computer will be available to another. You can also highlight the new task manager and support for working with two processor cores.
Step 4
To compare the speed and performance of the two operating systems, performance tests were conducted. Both operating systems used the same applications and computer settings. Drivers and antiviruses for both systems were used the same, with the default settings.
Step 5
When testing common programs using PCMark benchmark applications that measure speed and performance when using application programs, it turned out that when using Opera, Windows 7 was slightly faster, and when archiving, both operating systems showed the same results. When measuring the boot speed of the OS, it became clear that Windows 8 boots much faster compared to Windows 7.
Step 6
After the tests carried out, we can clearly say that Windows 8 and Windows 7 demonstrate approximately the same performance, both when using games and programs. Therefore, there is no need to change Windows 7 to Windows 8 on a regular computer, since Windows 8 is mainly designed to work on tablets or devices with touch screens. Then performance and ease of use are guaranteed. But the user can choose in any case.
