When working on a website, it is often necessary to make the background of a photo transparent so that the image fits well with the overall design. To solve this problem, use the graphics editor Adobe Photoshop.
Instructions
Step 1
Select "File" -> "Open" and in the window that appears, specify the required file, then click "Open". After that, click on the "Layers" button located in the right part of the program window, right-click on the "Background" layer, select "From background …", specify the name of the layer and click OK.
Step 2
Then there are two options. If the background of the image is uniform, select Magic Wand from the toolbar on the left side of the window. Click on the background, after which it will be selected. To smooth edges, click on the Refine Edge button located on the top panel. Set the desired options for feathering, anti-aliasing, etc. After that press the Delete key or select "Edit" -> "Clear".
Step 3
The second option is more suitable for photographs with complex backgrounds, which cannot be clearly distinguished with the help of the "Magic Wand". Select the Brush tool. After that go to the Quick Mask mode. To do this, click on the icon located at the bottom of the toolbar, or press the Q key.
Step 4
Use the Brush to paint over the background. The shaded areas will change to pink. Use a smaller Brush size to work on the border of the background and other elements of the photo, and you can also increase the scale.
Step 5
After you finish selecting the background, exit the Quick Mask mode. To do this, again click on the corresponding icon, or press the Q key. If you need to smooth the edges, select the "Magic Wand" tool and click on the "Refine Edge" button. Specify the desired values and click OK. Then clear the selected background.
