In some cases, you need to copy data from one document to another, and they can be created by different programs. Most often, you need to transfer several tables from a document created in MS Excel to a new document in MS Word, or vice versa.
Necessary
Microsoft Office software
Instructions
Step 1
The easiest, but not always effective, way is to use the system clipboard. Select the required data or cells and press the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + C or Ctrl + Insert. The same operation can be performed through the "Edit" menu and the "Copy" item. Then go to the document to which you want to copy the fragment and press the key combination Ctrl + V or Shift + Insert, or through the Edit menu and the Paste item.
Step 2
You probably know that every program in the Microsoft Office suite has a Clipboard tool. It allows you to copy and store in memory up to 24 fragments throughout the program. Copy some fragments and paste them using the "Office Clipboard". You can call the window of this tool through the "Edit" menu by selecting the item of the same name.
Step 3
If this method did not help to completely transfer all data from one file to another, it is recommended to use an alternative method, which is based on saving one file format to a file. Almost all types of documents in the Microsoft Office suite of programs write and read information from xml files in the same way. It is considered a convenient and rather practical format. In other words, xml is nothing more than an archive containing information.
Step 4
If you have used newer versions of programs such as MS Word 2007 (2010) or MS Excel 2007 (2010), you may have noticed that the familiar formats have been replaced with new ones, for example, docx and xlsx. The new formats are entirely composed of xml documents, and the letter “x” was added to avoid confusion.
Step 5
Save the document in xml format by pressing the Ctrl + S keyboard shortcut. In the file save window, go to the File Type item and select the XML Document line. In another editor, open this file by pressing the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + O.
