You bought a new computer or just decided to change your annoying keyboard. Connect a new "keyboard" to your computer and … Doesn't work? Do not be alarmed! There is no need to go to extremes and run headlong to the store for an exchange. Your USB keyboard needs to be installed correctly.

- - CD with software.
Instructions
Step 1
Read the instructions that came with your USB keyboard. Check if you need to install a driver on your computer before connecting the keyboard. The operating system automatically installs drivers as soon as it detects the connected device. Sometimes manual installation of drivers is required. In this case, an installation disc with instructions is supplied with the device.
Step 2
Check the manufacturer's software for compatibility with your version of the operating system. If the documents do not contain compatibility information, try connecting the keyboard to your computer. The operating system may be able to find a driver that is compatible with your device.
Step 3
Select the USB port to which your keyboard will be connected. Turn off your computer. Connect the keyboard cable to the USB port. Turn on your computer. The operating system will notify you that the device is ready for use (if it finds and automatically installs the driver). Or it will offer to insert a disc into the drive and install the drivers yourself.
Step 4
Open the floppy drive. Insert the driver disc into the tray. Close the drive and wait for the disc to load. Install the keyboard driver by following the prompts on your computer monitor. At the end of the driver installation, check if there is a need to install additional software (see instructions).
Step 5
If the keyboard doesn't work, try plugging it into a different USB port (try all available ones). Go to BIOS and check if USB keyboard support is enabled. It should look like this: USB Keyboard Support - Enabled. As a last resort, use a USB / PS-2 adapter to connect the keyboard to the PS-2 port (included with most USB keyboards).
