Depending on what files are at your disposal and what you want to get in the end, there are several ways to combine excerpts into one audio file: by mixing audio from several tracks, copying and pasting, or joining. All of these audio processing methods are available to Adobe Audition users.
Necessary
- - Adobe Audition program;
- - sound files.
Instructions
Step 1
The easiest way to combine multiple audio clips is to use the Open Append option. There is a similar command in the VirtualDub video editor, in which video files are glued with its help. In order to use this option, open the file in the sound editor, which should be at the beginning of the glued sound. To do this, use the Open option from the File menu or the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + O.
Step 2
To attach the second audio fragment to the first one, open it in the editor using the Open Append option from the same File menu. If the first in order was a mono file, the section that follows it will be converted to mono. Conversely, if a stereo file was opened first, the attached mono file will have two channels.
Step 3
In the same way, attach the remaining excerpts to the file. Markers with the names of the source files will appear in the places where the fragments were glued.
Step 4
Another way to combine multiple audio clips is to simply copy the audio track and then paste it anywhere on the other track. In order to use this method of gluing, open the files in the editor using the Open option.
Step 5
In the list of open files, which is visible on the left side of the program window in the editing mode, click on the name of the second in the order of the excerpt and select the Edit item from the context menu.
Step 6
Select the entire audio track and copy the excerpt using the Copy option from the Edit menu or by pressing Ctrl + C.
Step 7
Find the first fragment in the list of files and open it using the Edit item of the context menu. Place the cursor on the place of the sound wave where you are going to paste the second fragment and paste it by pressing Ctrl + V or using the Paste option from the Edit menu.
Step 8
If you do not need to glue one passage to the end of another, but to mix them, after loading the files into the editor, apply the Insert into Multitrack Session option from the Edit menu to each open fragment.
Step 9
Switch the editor to Multitrack Session mode by selecting it from the list in the Workspace field. In the window that opens, you can change the volume of simultaneously sounding fragments or shift them so that they are played sequentially, overlapping each other only at the beginning and end.
Step 10
To save sound from Multitrack mode, use the Audio Mix Down option in the Export group of the File menu. To save the sound from edit mode, use the Save As option from the File menu.
