ESET Smart Security is a powerful anti-virus system that has a constantly updated anti-virus database. It receives regular updates in functionality from the developers of the program. Updating is carried out through the corresponding menu item in the antivirus settings and can be performed on licensed copies of the program.
Instructions
Step 1
By default, ESET Smart Security automatically checks daily for new software versions on the ESET developer's server. This option can be disabled in the program window through the "Settings" - "Update" section. You can always check the available software versions manually.
Step 2
Open the application window by left-clicking on the corresponding icon in the Windows notification area, located in the lower right corner of the screen on the lower Start panel. You can also launch the application from Start - All Programs - ESET - ESET Smart Security.
Step 3
In the window that appears, click on the "Update" button, which is located on the left side of the screen. After launch, a corresponding notification will be displayed, which will inform you about the availability of a new version of the program. If there are no updates available and you are using the latest version of the antivirus program, you will see a message: "No update required".
Step 4
To check the version of the application, you can also use the line "Available version of ESET Smart Security". If during the update you received a message about the incorrect username or password, click on the "Cancel" - "Enter username" button. Enter your username and password to access the program license and try updating again.
Step 5
You can also manually update the version of the program by downloading the new version from the official ESET website. After that, double-click on the resulting installer file and among the options available for selection, click "Update program". If it is impossible to update, remove the old version of the antivirus from the system using the "Start" - "Control Panel" - "Uninstall Programs" menu. After that, restart your computer and run the installation of the new version of the antivirus program again.
