Most modern laptops have built-in webcams, and there are cameras available for stationary computers that can be purchased separately. Since video telephony services have been developing rapidly in recent years, the presence of a camera and its operability are essential for the user. Often, a webcam may not work correctly due to a driver malfunction. You can fix this problem on your own.

Instructions
Step 1
Determine your webcam model. This is easy to do if you purchased the device yourself from a certified dealer and have the appropriate technical documentation. When purchasing the camera separately from your computer, be sure to include the installation disc with the appropriate drivers.
Step 2
If you don't know the model of the camera, connect it, then go to the Device Manager on your computer, find the camera and go to its properties. In Manager, the webcam can appear as a USB video device, Media controller, or Imaging device. Usually the camera is connected to the internal USB bus.
Step 3
Connect your webcam to your computer and activate it. To do this, plug the connecting cable into an available USB port. The system will prompt you to insert a bootable disk and install the software for the webcam to work correctly. If the camera is not immediately found in the list of devices after installation, proceed to installing the drivers.
Step 4
Insert the driver software disc into your computer's floppy drive and launch it. Execute the commands offered when loading the disk without changing the parameters. The system will automatically install the drivers to your computer. If the unattended installation does not start, start it by clicking on the setup.exe file or another executable file in the drivers folder.
Step 5
Restart your computer. When the system starts again, a notification will appear stating that the device in the form of a webcam has been successfully installed and ready for action.
Step 6
To manually install drivers when they are updated, go to the Device Manager, go to the "Properties" section and the "Driver" tab. Here, click the "Update" button, and then refuse to automatically search for drivers. To complete the software installation, specify the driver folder for your webcam and click Next.
