There are many ways to change your Windows product license key. It is easy to do this, it is much more difficult to find a key that passes the Microsoft Update check. The only correct solution in this case would be to buy a licensed version of the operating system.
Instructions
Step 1
Usually, a key change is required when a user wants to switch from an unlicensed or non-activated version of Windows to a licensed one, without reinstalling the operating system and losing data. There are many utilities and programs, as well as system approaches that allow you to replace the Windows key.
Shareware KeyChanger Windows allows you to change your product key in one click. Opposite the Windows key in the main program window, click the Change button and enter a new key, then click the same Change button in the new window.
XP Key Changer is a completely identical solution for Windows XP. The utility allows you to change the Windows key in a few seconds, while it will show you the old key if you want to write it down and save it for use for any purpose. XP Key Changer supports all Service Pack editions.
KeyUpdateTool, like previous programs, also allows you to change the key to Windows XP.
Step 2
For systems that require activation, the way to change the Windows key is as follows: you need to connect to the Internet, start activation and select "Activate via the Internet". Having refused the request to register as a Microsoft client, continue the registration procedure and if the error “Your key has been used a maximum number of times” appears in the window that opens, enter a new key, then click “Next”.
Step 3
In Windows 7, go to Start and type CMD in the Find files and programs field. Right-click the cmd.exe application and select Run as administrator from the context menu. In the window that appears, enter the command slmgr.vbs /upkslmgr.vbs / ipk The first command will remove the Windows key, and the second will add a new one. You will see a message that the update was successful. Then go to "Control Panel" and select "System". In the window that appears, find the link to activate Windows and click it. In the activation window, enter the Windows key and check it online to complete the activation.
Step 4
For computers with a volume license, there are extensive instructions for changing the license key, described on the official Microsoft support site:
