Some operating systems require administrator rights to perform certain actions. This applies to most operating systems of the Windows family and XP as well.
Instructions
Step 1
There are several proven ways to log on to Windows XP as an administrator. In rare cases, this operation can be performed even without knowing the passwords for any of the existing users.
Step 2
Let's start with the simplest situation. Turn on your computer and wait for the operating system to load. The display will show a list of existing users. Select the one that has administrator rights and enter the operating system using this account.
Step 3
If you are already logged into the operating system using a different account, you can still run the required application. Right-click on the file you want to open and select "Run as administrator". You will see a window containing two fields. Enter the name of an account with administrator rights and a password for it. This method allows you to save the time required to switch between users.
Step 4
But sometimes there are situations when you do not know the password for the administrator account. In this case, it is necessary to perform an algorithm of simple actions.
Step 5
Restart your computer and press the F12 button when it starts up. You will see a menu for choosing options to continue downloading. Move the cursor to the "Windows Safe Mode" item and press the Enter key.
Step 6
Wait for the OS to load. When the Select Accounts window appears, notice that a new username appears, Administrator. Most likely, no password has been set for this account. Sign in to the operating system using this account.
Step 7
Open the control panel and go to the "Account Management" menu. Create a new account with administrator rights.
Step 8
Restart your computer and log into the OS using the account you created.
