It is necessary

  • - fiber optic cable;
  • - LAN card.

Instructions

Step 1

Purchase the required length of fiber optic cable. Crimp the ends at a specialty store. If you do this yourself, you may experience problems with the quality of the connection. Buy network cards.

Step 2

Connect the network cards to the motherboard of your personal computers. Download the drivers from the manufacturer's website and install them. Reboot your operating system for all changes to take effect.

Step 3

Run the fiber optic cable from one computer to another. Make sure that there are no strong kinks or pinching of the cable. Insert the ends into the network cards. After that, the green lights should light up.

Step 4

Go to "My Computer". In the left part of the dialog box, click on the "Control Panel" link. Left-click on the "Network Connections" shortcut. In this window you will see a shortcut "Local Area Connection" - go to its properties. Select TCP / IP. On the first computer, enter the IP address 192.168.0.1, and on the second computer, enter 192.168.0.2. The default subnet mask must be 255.255.255.0. Click "OK" and the entered values will take effect.

Step 5

Open "Start" -> "Run" and enter the command cmd.exe. A command prompt will open. From the first computer, enter ping 192.168.0.1-t, and from the second computer, enter ping 192.168.0.2-t. If you see the lines "Reply from …", then the connection was established successfully.

Step 6

If you want to establish general access to a folder or to a printer, then click on this shortcut with the right mouse button and go to properties. Open the "Access" tab. Check the box next to "Mark this folder (printer) to be shared" and click OK. After that, access will be shared.
